I tried once again to get the effect I was after, and got a little closer this time. Still not happy with the results. My biggest fault I think is not slowing down. I rush right in and want to get everything down NOW. Something to work on.
I think the immediacy of your brushstroke works in this, it's really beautiful! Your speed gives it a life that might be dulled if you slow yourself down too much...
I think both of these day lily paintings are wonderful. I love the colors and how they're repeated in the background. Its easy to tell you are passionate about your flowers. I also like your well-placed, chiseled edges.
Go ahead, keep being unhappy and painting more. They really are fantastic...
